Ice Hockey Summer Camps for Players Chasing a Rep Roster Spot
A week of ice time is easy to find. A week that moves your game forward isn't.

Don't Let Summer Be the Reason Your Ice Hockey Skills Are Behind in September
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), fall tryouts don't hand out credit for how good you looked last season. A summer off the ice doesn't just pause your development; it usually costs you solid ground, especially against players who kept training. That gap is invisible in July but impossible to miss by the second week of September.
PH Development's ice hockey summer camps are built around that reality, real training, real fun, and a clear reason behind every drill. Register for this summer's camps in the Vancouver Lower Mainland and turn the off-season into the reason you show up ready.

What a PH Development Ice Hockey Camp Covers
Every camp week blends technical work with game-concept blocks. One block might focus on skating mechanics or puck skills. Another puts those same skills into small-area games and situational drills. You're never just repeating a move; you're using it under pressure the same day you learned it.
That's the same approach behind everything I coach: understand what a mechanic is for, then use it under real pressure. An ice hockey camp week isn't a break from that. It's a concentrated version of it.
Why Off-Season Training Matters for Serious Players
Plenty of players plateau, not because they stopped trying, but because they stopped training deliberately. A summer of pickup games and open skates keeps you moving, but it doesn't fix a stride that fails under pressure or a shot that only works with three seconds to load.
An ice hockey camp week won't guarantee a rep roster spot. Nothing can, in all honesty. What it does is put you in front of the specific habits that get noticed at tryouts:
- Puck poise under pressure
- Edge work that holds up
- Small-area decision-making that doesn't fall apart when a defender closes in
When team practices resume in the fall, coaches are forced to focus on systems, breakouts, and line chemistry. They rarely have the ice time to correct your specific stride or puck protection habits.
The off-season is your only dedicated window to purely focus on your development.
Ice Hockey Camp or Lessons: What's the Difference?
A camp week is structured, date-specific, and built around a group working through the same material together over several days. A private or semi-private lesson is built around one player's specific needs, on a schedule that fits around their life.
| Camp Week | Private / Semi-Private Lesson | |
|---|---|---|
| Format | Multi-day, group setting | 1-on-1 or small group |
| Focus | Several skill areas in one intensive block | A personal need |
| Timing | Set week, seasonal | Flexible, year-round |
| Best for | A concentrated push before a deadline, like fall tryouts | Ongoing, targeted correction |
Camps are efficient for a focused block of development. Lessons are efficient for targeted, ongoing correction. Plenty of serious players use both across a season.
Who Are Summer Ice Hockey Camps For?
These training sessions are for players who are serious about improving. They want to be challenged, get out of their comfort zones, and build confidence that can withstand pressure.
U11 to U18 Rep & High-Performance Players
Youth athletes wanting to stand out in early tryouts and bring resilience into their upcoming season.
Junior & Collegiate Prospects
Dedicated prep camps (PIJHL, BCHL, and NCAA hopefuls) built around the speed, contact, and rapid decision-making required at the next tier.
Players Looking to Break a Plateau
Anyone tired of losing puck battles or feeling invisible during games because their mechanics fail when the play gets chaotic.

FAQs About Ice Hockey Summer Camps
How Many Hours of Ice Time Does Each Camp Week Include?
Ice time varies depending on the specific camp and age group. Typical summer camps run for four or five consecutive days, with one or two time slots per day. The time slots are an hour to two hours each. We balance high-intensity repetition with active recovery so players don't hit an exhaustion wall by Wednesday.
What Should Players Bring to Camp?
Full hockey gear, a water bottle, and a change of dry base layers if the day includes multiple sessions. If a specific week needs anything extra, players will be notified when they sign up.
Can Players Register for Multiple Weeks?
Most weeks allow it, and some players stack more than one over the summer. Check this summer's program page for availability, since some weeks fill up faster than others.
Is There a Payment Plan or Refund Policy for Camp Registration?
Yes. Each camp's checkout page provides payment options. If you can no longer attend a camp, contact Coach Ben as soon as you can to make a plan.
Are Camps Grouped by Skill Level, Age, or Both?
Both. This summer's lineup runs on age bands, like U11/13 and U15/18, with the Small Area Skills clinics further split by performance tier within those groups.
Do You Offer Any Discount for Registering Early or for Siblings?
I do offer discounts or price reductions at times. Keep an eye on the ice hockey summer camp training page or follow me on Instagram for updates.
